One Pan Ham and Penne Dish
Simple and filling pasta dish, using only one pan, which means quick clean up!
INGREDIENTS
1 Tbsp. butter (or oil)
1/2 cups chopped yellow onion
3 cloves minced garlic
3 cups fully cooked ham (1 Woodbridge Ham Slice cooked & cut into cubes)
1/2 tsp. dried parsley
1/2 tsp. dried basil
1/4 tsp. dried oregano
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/8 tsp. red pepper flakes (optional; don’t like heat, don’t add)
3 cups. chicken broth
2 cups milk
1/4 cup flour (or 3 Tbsp. clear gel)
16 oz. penne noodles, uncooked
2 cups frozen peas, thawed
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
DIRECTIONS
Put 1 Tbsp. butter or oil in a large skillet pan over medium heat until warm. Saute’ ham and onions until onions are translucent. Add garlic, parsley, basil, oregano, pepper and red pepper flakes; cook 1 to 2 minutes.
Stir in broth, milk flour and penne noodles. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 10 to 12 minutes, stirring often.
Add peas and simmer five more minutes or until pasta is fully cooked and peas are warm.
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese on the top of the pasta, before serving.
Enjoy!
Note: If more liquid is needed for the pasta while simmering, just add a little water or broth to the mixture.
